This is my first creation in the medium of digital art. It came about somewhat by accident. I was making the lines and background in the lightest blue of this color family. The knot at the bottom represents my struggles in my youth and it expands into an image of a pleasant curving face with two petals for the eyes and a slight sliver for a smile. I was done and my son was complimenting me on how pretty it was. It felt very peaceful.
A moment later, I experienced something in a zoom room that caused me great emotional pain and I reactively hit the black button making this mack pop out at me. I was sobbing and said, " Yes, this is the mask I wear. This is what I hide behind so people don't see my torment." My son was very comforting and rubbed my shoulders and lifted my service dog into my lap as I continued to sob. The zoom room closed quickly after realizing the harm they had caused. It is unfortunate that words can bring up such traumatic memories that we relive again and again.
I treasure this piece. It inspired two more pieces. A sculpture, that I also treasure, that unfortunately was broken. We are seeking a restorer that will bring it back to life. The third piece in this set is the triptych, Expressing the Inner Me, shown below.
I look forward to the sculpture being completed and added back to this set. It will be posted on Artsy, on my Instagram account, and I will dedicate a page to it on this site.
Acrylic paint using three different techniques on three 12" x 36" Gallery-wrapped canvas sealed with three layers of resin.

I used three different techniques to create these pieces and one that is new to me, Acrylic Pour. I used two different styles of that method. You can see an Acrylic Swipe in the two panels on the left with the black background. Zoom in to see the cool cells it creates. I also used a swipe in the two panels on the right with the gold background. Here I used a different size tool to create the narrow swirls moving up the panel.
This is also the first time I have used resin. It not only creates a protective barrier but also enhances the art. With these pieces, I chose to have the paint and resin flow over the sides wrapping the visible area of the canvas in color.
While I drew the exterior lines for the curved areas and the rectangles, all the painting is freehand. I carefully placed each color with the objective of enhancing the next. My intention was to create an image that demonstrates the complexity within me with the lovely flowing strands swimming in a pool of gold in contrast to the precise placement of movement along with the bursting color full of life next to the raw expression of emotion.
